On the Road, Las Vegas and Zion Canyon – Reunion with my Family (Vacation #2)

The next part of our vacation involved a lot of driving, but just read on.

After a relaxed (or maybe not) relaxed day at Disneyland we got back on the road to Las Vegas.

On the way to Vegas we stopped at the Hooverdam. I don’t know why everybody stops at this dam, but thats why did it. But it was for sure impressing to see that.

After the never ending drive to Las Vegas, we checked into the hotel.

little story: Next to us was a german family checking in. Well the 12 year old boy was translating and he gave the guy at the check in a pack of children animal cookies. He was hoping to get a suite with a view of the strip in exchange for the cookies. (like you can imagine, it didnt work 😉 ).

Since we arrived kind of late at the hotel, we only tried the all you can eat buffet in the hotel and went to bed afterwards. (btw. I wouldn’t recommend the buffet).

This was our only full day, that we spent in Vegas and it started at 8am. Because we had to get ready for a special event.

We got to participate in a wedding.

After the wedding was over, we went to a typical american diner (in the lowest level of our hotel) for lunch.

Before we hung out at the pool in the afternoon we went up the Stratosphere Tower to enjoy the view. Well the rest of the day we just spent at the pool.

Just on time for the sunset we got back up on the tower and enjoyed the view at night time. Well and then my sister and I decided that we needed some adrenalin, so that we got on X-Scream, where you „drive“ over the edge of the tower.

To end our day we went for a walk on to the strip and I can just say this crazy city is like its own world. But Vegas is not comparable with other cities.

Around midnight we finally got back to the hotel and fell into our bed like dead.

One day after the big wedding, we got back on the road. This time the road got us to Page.

It seemed like a never-ending road. So we made a little stop at the Zion Canyon. Since it was the 100 years anniversary of all the national parks we got into the Zion Canyon for free. The Zion Canyon is fascinating and interesting but it looked kind of like all the other national parks I’ve been to.

When we arrived in Page, we checked into the Hotel and unloaded our car. My sister and I had a pretty hard time pushing the baggage cart through the hotel and into the elevator. We were kind of the entertainment of the other guests.

While our parents went out for dinner, my sister and I decided to go into the pool. Well after my tiptoes got into the water, I decided its way too cold and made my way over to the heated whirlpool.

Back in our room I had to pack my suitcase again, because it was already the last day of my vacation and I had to go back to my host family on sunday. We watched one of the Hungergame movies and went to bed afterwards.
