Malmö, Paris and a little roadtrip through Europe with my host family

After we arrived in Copenhagen, we did a short trip to Malmö, Sweden and flew to Paris, before our Roadtrip to Austria began. If you want to know more keep reading.

After we got all our stuff to our Hotel (more about it at the end of the post), we decided to take a little trip. We walked from the hotel to the trainstation and took the train over to Sweden, to Malmö to be exact. There was not a lot to do in Malmö but we did find a food festival to get lunch. But shortly afterwards it started to rain, so we headed back to the train and back to Copenhagen. We did a little grocery shopping and walked back to the hotel. We repacked some of the families stuff and did some laundry. Soon it was time for bed and we all went to sleep.

On Monday 5/29 we made our way to the airport, because it was time for our short trip to PARIS. It took a while until we got a cab big enough for all our stuff and once we got to the airport we had to wait in a line to pay for our extra suitcase. My hm decided to skip line and made pretty much everyone mad, but it was the only way to catch our flight. The girls were pretty easy on the flight and we had an amazing time. Once my hm was done talking to my hd we took a cab into the city of Paris (we stayed at the airport). The traffic in Paris is insane and it was more than once that we thought we would die in this cab.

Our first stop was the Montparnasse Tower Observation Deck. While the view is stunning, I wouldnt go out of the way that much again and pay so much money for it. We decided to walk back and got lost a few times. We then finally made it to the Eiffel Tower and after a few pictures, we went to get dinner. We ate at a little fancy restaurant, where we could see the Eiffel Tower light up. We walked back to the Eiffel Tower after dinner and took a cab from there to the Hotel. We were like dead by the time we got to the hotel and went straight to sleep.

The next day my hm went to pick up her rental/leasing car and on her way to the hotel a little light in the car turned on. So once we got everything in the car and checked out of the hotel, we drove back to the car place, where they told us they refilled the missing fluid and fixed a problem in the system. But just a few miles into driving it lit up again, so we stopped at the next peugot garage, where they said they fixed it again. But of course it lit up again. We decided to just keep going, because we were already delayed and we had reservations for a hotel in Zürich and tickets for a castle in Germany the next day. But after a little while, the car started showing a message, that said we wouldnt be able to start it again in about 1000km, so we decided to head to another garage. They weren’t able to fix the car the same day, so my hm’s car insurance picked us up and dropped us off at a creepy highway motel in the middle of nowhere, without telling us any details.

The next morning, we got a call around 10am, that they were able to fix our car (some tube wasn’t plugged in or something like that) and so we finally made our way to Austria. Instead of going to Zürich and the castle, we headed straight to Austria and for the first half my hm was driving the car. Once we stopped for dinner in Germany we switched and I drove all the way to the border of Austria. It was the first time in 21months that I was driving a manual car and I did pretty good. We got to my hf house around 2am and went straight to sleep. We got the house all ready the next morning and headed into Vienna to meet with my hm’s sister and her family (who were visiting us). I soon said bye and headed to my weekend off full of surprises. The family went on vacation to Italy while I was gone, so I got 2 extra days off.
