For my weekend off in June I decided to hop on a plane and fly to Atlanta.

After my redeye flight touched down in Atlanta fairly early I found myself a quiet spot at one of the gates and went back to sleep for a little bit longer. When I fell asleep the gate was empty, but when I woke up I was surrounded by tons of people starring at me thanks to my alarm, that has been going off for a while. So I packed my bags and headed to the bathroom to get changed and ready for the day.
I decided to take MARTA (public transit), but thanks to my misreading on google maps I got off a stop to early and ended up walking through a ghetto all by myself. I went to my hotel and just tried my luck to see, if my room would be ready and I actually got my room at 9am. So I went upstairs left all my stuff there and only took what was necessary with me.
So I started walking to CNN, where I was taking one of their studio tours, which was really interesting but also similar to the ones I already did at ORF in Vienna and Bavaria Filmstudios in Munich.
On my way to the World of Coca Cola I actually went through the Centennial Olympic Park, which was really cute. The World of Coca Cola was one of my favorite museums so far, there is so much to do you won’t be bored.
My next stop was the Georgia Aquarium, which is #1 in the USA and #2 in the world. There is so much to see here and it wasn’t boring at all.
After a short nap at my hotel, I met up with some Au Pairs from the area and headed to a Hookah-Bar. After we spent almost all night there we stopped at Jackson Bridge (where the walking dead was filmed) and Atlantic Station Bridge, where you have amazing views of the skyline.

I used today to sleep in and packed my bags right before checkout. I forgot to ask if I could use the pool and gym, so I ended up spending my entire day in the lobby. Before I had to go back to the airport I went back to Jackson Bridge to catch the view during the day.
Once I was done I called an uber and went back to the airport. The driver was kind of the typical American and mistook Austria for Australia, but I was too tired to explain the difference to him, so I just acted like I am from Australia, but don’t even know our capital city…
The security at the airport was a hassle, one woman yelled at me that bags shouldn’t be in boxes and not to cover the liquids in the box… And after all that I found out, that I am on the wrong end of the airport. But since I had a lot of time, I decided to walk it. Along the way stopped for Pizza and some Netflix.
The flight back to Phoenix was really fun, since I shared the row with 2 people my age and we had a lot of fun. We mainly talked about me being from Austria and the differences between the USA and Austria and all that. Thanks to all our chatting the flight went by so quickly and before we knew we had to say goodbye again (an 1 hour too early)
At the airport we were welcomed by an alarm, caused by someone who pushed the wrong button. And as much as I love living in Arizona being welcomed by 42 Celsius at 10pm is no fun.
