San Francisco – Reuniontrip with my Family (Vacation #2)

19.August 2016

I was excited to finally see my family again after almost a year and of course that’s when my flight is delayed by almost an hour. But that couldn’t really stop me. Once I got San Francisco Airport, I took an uber to my parents hotel and after I got dressed more appropriate we headed out to Chinatown. According to the websites we all read, it was supposed to be super cute and nice with all the lights lit up, but there was literally nothing special. So we had to look for another plan and well, we decided to take the Cable Car from Union Square to Lombard Street, where we got off and took a whole lot of pictures, without tons of people in them. The view was also really nice since the Bay Bridge and everything was lit up as well.We ended up walking down to the last stop of the Cable Car and hopped back on it to head back to the hotel. We actually got to stand on the outside this time and hang out of it, just like in Full House. We stopped at Walgreens for some food and a hot chocolate before we went back to the hotel and to sleep around midnight.

Despite going to bed so early, we actually got up at 7am to pack our bags and store them at the front desk before we headed out to Pier 33, because we had tickets for Alcatraz.

We got window seats on the ferry and ate our breakfast on there while having an awesome view of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. At Alcatraz we had an introduction to the Audio Guides, before we headed to the walking tour. The tour was amazing and really fun. At the end of everything you get to the souvenir, where sometimes former inmates or employees answer question you might have. The island and prison are totally worth visiting and I am glad I made it this time. The view of  San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge is a nice bonus for sure.

Back in San Francisco we split up. While my dad and my sister went to the aquarium, my mom and I went to get sourdough bread and ate lunch. All together we headed back to Chinatown for some souvenir shopping, before we had a taxi pick us up at the hotel and drop us off at the airport, where we would pick up our rental car for the week.

We only drove for a bit until we reached Gilroy, where we spent the night at the Day Inn.
