The second Stop of my East Coast Tour was Philadelphia.
28.December 2016
I arrived in Philadelphia and I waited at a Starbucks until 10:30 am for another aupair, which then told me, that she wouldnt be able to make it…
So I went to Greyhound Package Express (on the back of the Greyhound Station) to store my suitcase for 10$/24hr. I then made my way to the Independent State Park Visitor Center.
Once I got there I got my NP-stamps and asked for some tips from the guy behind the counter. He said I would not be able to see all the important things because it was almost noon. So I started pretty stressed and went to get a ticket for the independence hall.
I then took the PHLASH-bus (5$ for a day) all the way to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where I had to the obvious thing: run up the Rocky steps just like Rocky, it took me a couple tryouts, since I was by myself and I had to videotape myself with the selfiestick, but I do have to say its not too bad. And after a quick picture with the Rocky Statue next to the steps, I headed back to the historical district.
I got off the bus at the City Hall and took a picture with the Love Sign. Since I didnt know, where the next bus stop was, I decided to walk all the way to the Independence Visitor Center.
Since I had some time left I decided to get into the Liberty Bell Hall and take a look at the Liberty Bell. I was in line for over an hour, because of the security check before you get in the building. So I just skipped the whole museum/information part and went directly to the bell. There I kind of skiped the line for taking pictures and just took one… And then I ran to the Independence Hall, since they told me to be there no later then 3:05… So I ended up standing in line for 30min and the line was outside…
The Tour through the Indepence Hall was short, but they made it pretty interesting… It was the original furniture in there and our guide was really nice, but after 10min it was over. So I went back to the Visitor Center to find some nice souvenirs…
On my way back to Greyhound I bought some snacks for the following bus rides… This time I decided that I would get ready for the busrides at starbucks and take a hot chocolate for the way. The wait at the bus station was awfully long and not really enjoyable, because they had no wifi or outlets…
I made my way to NYC and there I changed the bus and met the other aupair (that didnt make it to Philadelphia). And off we went to the Niagara Falls. First I didnt like the bus, because it was an old bus and didnt look very nice. But in this bus I had the best sleep of all bus rides. I found a good position and slept almost the whole ride, only got up at the rest stop to move a little bit.
My day in numbers:
Sights: 7
Steps: 16.250
Distance: 6,8 miles
