A day in Portland, OR

On my way home from Vancouver I decided to make a 1 day stop in Portland and it was super fun and really doable.

30.December 2019

I usually wake up really early, but it was already 8am when I woke up, yet all the other girls in my dorm were still fast asleep (just like when I arrived at 10pm). So I took all my stuff with my and got ready for the day before packing my stuff in the common room.

Which is a book store, that takes up a whole block (dream for every bookworm like my sister). After a little bit of looking around in the store I went on to Pioneer Courthouse Square, which looked super cute, especially with the Christmas tree.  For brunch I had planned to go to Voodoo Donuts, when I got there I saw that they only take cash so I wandered around for 15min to find a legit ATM and by the time I got back there was huge line, I saw a sign that they have an ATM inside and when I got inside I saw that you can with your card now… The Donuts are super yummy and when I was full I headed to Chinatown and the Lan Su Chinese Garden. Just like the one in Vancouver this was really beautiful and I enjoyed the free tour that was offered with the entrance fee.

It’s amazing that in a lot of northamerican cities there are a few parallel worlds, like in one moment you walk through Portland and can read all the signs and in the next moment everything is in Chinese and you don’t understand a word.

IMG_E9443I stopped at Starbucks to warm up and charge my phone, before I got on the bus to head to the Jantzen Beach Super Center to take a picture with Kelsey Montagues wings (totally worth it). On my way to the airport I decided to hop off the bus and go see The Grotto, which is a really impressive church and really nice, especially since its in a small forest. Once I got to the airport I spent my time talking to my boyfriend until he went to bed and watch some more shows on my tablet.

The flight to Phoenix was completely booked, but I at least ended up getting a window seat assigned and the flight was super calm and easy.
