A day in New York City

Since my host family hasn’t returned from Austria yet I got to enjoy one extra day in NYC, which was super fun and unique to me.

I took Au Pair in Americas Shuttle from the Orientations hotel to La Guardia Airport, where I was supposed to be picked up by my shuttle. Well said shuttle didn’t arrive like planned instead I waited over 2 hours for the shuttle. By the time I got to the airport, I was not motivated to do anything at all. I had cried at the airport and so I just talked to my boyfriend on the phone, before I fell asleep.

IMG_0168Since I went to bed super early, I also woke up super early (4am), but waited until 7am to check out and head out of the hotel, I stored my bags at the hotel. I decided to walk to the Metro and use that for transportation. My first stop was the Highline, which I haven’t been able to visit so far. It was super nice and quiet and perfect for a little walk. I kept walking until I got to the 9/11 memorial. But the highlight of my day was for sure the Helicopter Flight that I had gotten from my family back at home as a farewell present, they planned all that with my host mum. Since I was booked with a French family, I actually got lucky enough to get the seat next to the pilot.

The flight was amazing and it was so awesome to see NYC from a different perspective and I am forever grateful for this present.

P1000347Since I still had time before I had to go to the airport, I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge to Dumbo and then returned on Manhattan Bridge from where I should’ve only taken 10min to the hotel… Well that’s if I would’ve walked the right direction, so instead it took me almost an hour… But at least I got to see Chinatown.

Since I was running kind of late and the metro stop close to the hotel didn’t have an elevator, I decided to take an Uber to the next stop that has one. I took the Airtrain all the way to JFK, where I went straight to the Check-In and security. And well from here it was a pretty normal travel day.
