3 days in Viva Las Vegas

In October it was time to return to Las Vegas to celebrate my Au Pair Buddies 21st Birthday.

1.October 2016

At the Airport I checked in and while I was waiting at the gate I facetimed with my friend, so time really flew by. This time I checked in early enough with the Southwest App, so I got A58 (the number to get into the plane). I had a lot of different seats to choose from and of course I picked the window seat behind the wings.

The flight was awesome. It was a quite flight and it was really short, like about 40min. Although the flight was so short, we got a little snack and drink before we got down again. But we had to wait for quite a while, because we were about 20min to early so our gate was still blocked. But even after I got of the plane and my luggage I had to wait for Nadjas flight to arrive.

We were lucky, because the bus (3 day ticket 20$) took us directly to our hotel and there was no need for us to switch to another bus. At the hotel we couldnt check in yet, so we stored our luggage there and went to the strip. We went a little shopping and sight seeing on the strip and by the time we were done, it was time to go back to the hotel and check in.

At the check in we upgraded our room and so we got a room with a view on the strip and the stratosphere tower. After we brought all our stuff to the room, we got ready to head up the tower. We enjoyed the view on the tower, but after a while, it was time for a good dinner. So we decided to go to the italian restaurant in the hotel. The pizza was pretty good and the tiramisu, well lets say it was soaked in rum…

We spent our time in the room until it was almost midnight. Around 11:30 we headed up to the bar in the stratosphere tower to celebrate Nadja’s 21st birthday. She drank her first legal cocktail in the USA and I enjoyed some spirte in a plastic bottle (because the barman is not allowed to hand out a second cup, no matter if/whats in it, without getting a second ID).

We finally got to go to bed at 2am and I was asleep until 8.

After getting ready we made our way to our special breakfast. We went to the Donut Bar and ate some awesome donuts (you have to visit this place when you are in Vegas). We walked down Fremont Street after that and looked at some of those casinos. Around noon we headed back to the hotel and got some stuff ready, so that we could go to the Strip again.

We looked into some hotels and Nadja took a ride with the gondola. When she was done we walked all the way from the Venetian to the Hofbräuhaus. This was probably the highlight of the weekend, because we got some „Wiener Schnitzel“, „real“ (german/austrian) bread, apple strudel and for Nadja some real german beer. This dinner was awesome and the liveband played a lot of german/austrians songs. We spent over 5 hours there and it felt really good to have a little time just  like at home. When we left the restaurant it was 9pm and until we got home we were so tired, that we fell asleep right away.

After we packed our stuff again , we checked out and stored our luggage. Once again we ate breakfast at the donut bar and then we even went to the heartattack grill (they talk a lot about that on german TV).  Let’s say it is for sure different, but its a once in a lifetime thing.

Back at the hotel Nadja tried one of the gamble machines and then we went back up the Stratosphere Tower one last time. We even tried to relax at the pool, but it was kind of cold so we changed our mind and left to go to the Strip again.

We took all our luggage with us and headed south the strip. We walked a little bit and went a little souvenir shopping. We took the bus down to the Vegas Sign and then we headed to the airport.

At the airport we arrived just like we planned and had quite a while to spend it in the stores. We saw a lot of weird people that ran around the airport, but that just fit the atmosphere of Las Vegas.

Our flight back was with American Airlines and it was again a pretty short flight. This time we didnt even get a drink from the airline, because they didnt have enough time.

When we arrived in Phoenix,  we walked to the gate of Nadjas connecting flight and then it was time to say good bye again.

It was an awesome weekend and I would do it all again, but maybe not until I am 21, so I can enjoy the whole Vegas experience.
